Additionally raspberries carry other health benefits such as being a great source of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that contribute to overall good health and well being. They are rich in dietary fiber, manganese and prebiotics which may help with weight loss and improve gut health. A study published in the Journal of Carcinogenesis found the antioxidant phytochemicals inhibit carcinogenesis by preventing cell damage by neutralizing free radicals. Antioxidants were shown to improve brain health and the neurological system in another study published in the journal Nutrients. Additionally, the anti-aging zeaxanthin antioxidant content helps to filter out blue light rays to help protect the eyes from age related macular degeneration which can lead to retinal damage and vision loss.

Adding certain foods and supplements to the diet can help to protect against and ease symptoms of diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Time and time again diet has been shown to be an essential factor in maintaining overall health and disease prevention.
