Staying Hydrated Is Important To Your Body And Mind

The analysis revealed that the average person experiences 57 little things( around 8 a day) that bring them happiness each week, and 36% of the respondents agreed that drinking enough water helps to boost their mood, 31% said that they eat enough to avoid getting hangry, and 30% go for a walk to boost their mood.

46% of the most hydrated respondents reported being very happy compared to less than 22% of the least hydrated. 71% of those who drink at least 7 or more glasses of water a day consider themselves to be an optimistic the glass is half full type of person compared to 38% of those who drink less than a glass of water a day. 80% of those who drank 10 or more glasses of water a day reported believing that it was very important to find joy in the small things compared to 48% of those who drank less than one glass a day.

Not drinking enough water every day and becoming dehydrated can lead to physical and emotional symptoms fairly quickly. 35% of the respondents said that when they don’t drink enough water they have low energy levels, 29% get headaches, 23% experience muscle cramps, 39% have low mood levels, 34% get irritable, 28% become frustrated, and 27% have anxiety.

While there are plenty of reasons why people are drinking enough water, 43% of the respondents said that plain water tastes too bland and boring. This sentiment was shared by half of those who reported drinking less than a glass of water a day compared to 11% of those who drink 7 to 9 glasses of water a day.

61% of the respondents use drink mixes and powders to add some oomph to their water, this was more common among those who drink the most water with 61% of those drinking more than 10 glasses of water a day using add-ins compared to 41% of those who drink the least amount of water a day.

39% of the respondents report that they carry a water bottle with them everywhere to make sure they have access to water at all times, 39% like to drink water first thing in the morning to start the day off right, and 25% have set daily water intake goals to make sure they drink enough water.

“There are a variety of easy steps people can take to ensure they’re staying hydrated throughout the day,” says Heidi Carney, Executive Vice President of Marketing at True Lemon. “From carrying a water bottle with you on the go, to setting little reminders for yourself, there are different ways to get in the habit of drinking enough water. For those who don’t like the taste of water, drink mixes can also be a great solution. It’s all about finding what works best for you, to ensure you’re getting the hydration you need.”

“The health benefits of drinking enough water throughout the day are well documented — staying hydrated is as important as getting enough sleep and eating healthy,” says Carney.

The next time you find yourself dragging your feet around try having a drink of water rather than a sugary snack or cup of coffee. Also keep in mind that sometimes when you think that you are hungry, you are actually thirsty, so drink a glass of water and see how you feel after a few minutes. Maybe you’re not h-angry you’re t-angry. When you are adequately hydrated your body and mind may thank you with improved brain performance, digestive harmony, satiety between meals supporting weight management, better temperature regulation, improved detoxification, fewer headaches, increased energy, and better moods, among other benefits.
