In recent years, there have been two ways of repairing damaged skin through laser treatment. They are ablative laser resurfacing and non-ablative laser resurfacing. Ablative methods effectively regenerate aging and sun-damaged skin, but they are associated with adverse side effects, risks, and long healing periods. Non-ablative techniques pose fewer risks, but patients must undergo several treatments over several months. Patients also generally see only limited cosmetic improvements.
