To Gas Or Not To Gas

A few precautions can be taken to help to decrease the problem which can include avoiding consumption of fatty, greasy foods and gas producing items, avoiding smoking, participating in regular exercise, eating slowly, and avoiding carbonated drinks and beer.

 

Gas is generated in the digestive tract by swallowing air and the normal breakdown of certain undigested foods by naturally occurring bacteria present in the large intestine. Gas and indigestion can be experienced more than once in the same day. The National Institute of Health says that most people will produce gas at least 14 times every 24 hours. Normal sources that cause this problem is eating fatty foods and swallowing air. Gas problems may cause belching, flatulence, bloating, and other gastric problems, although considered natural they still can at times make you feel uncomfortable and even embarrassed. Maintaining a proper diet and participating in regular exercise will help to reduce some gas problems. Avoiding foods such as broccoli, cabbage, baked beans, cauliflower, hard candies, starches, lactose, sugars, carbs, sorbitol, fatty foods, and carbonated drinks will go a long way to help relieve this problem as well. Gastric problems can lead to anxiety and stress, stomach pain, and gastrointestinal infection or blockage.

 

You must learn which foods affect your intestines the most and avoid them. Regular exercise can help to reduce problems and can be as simple as a walk around the block. The chances of belching are increased by smoking significantly. Rapid intake of food often results in digestive issues. Eating food too quickly denies the digestive system of the time it needs to digest food properly. Chewing food slowly is a must to reducing gastric issues. Fiber aids digestion, but too much fiber creates gas problems, adding a product like Beano to high fiber diets can help to reduce the amount of gas produced. Adding fiber to your diet is a great idea, but if you are prone to gas and bloating you may want to increase your tolerance slowly, once your body becomes acclimated to the presence of extra fiber you can then enjoy the benefits of it which includes cleansing the colon which will remove some of the gas and help to maintain feelings of fullness and prevent overeating.

 

Changing your diet to reduce discomfort of gas may be of benefit, and is suggested by most doctors. If the problem still continues without change it is better to consult a doctor for medical advise as small problems can turn into bigger ones quicker than one would think, especially if not treated in a timely manner.

 

To end on a happy note, and this is a real thing: studies show that couples who fart to together stay together, having more trusting, bonded, open, and longer lasting relationships, not to mention more laughs. After all you’re never too old to laugh at a fart, just don’t trust them.
