4 Amazing Anti-Aging Benefits from CBD & Edibles

Cannabis-infused topicals are fast gaining popularity, older women include this in their beauty routine. You won’t get high with 0.3 percent THC but the CBD will reduce wrinkles and invigorate your skin.

Another way of enjoying the benefits of CBD is by mixing edibles with food. Think about brewed coffee blended with cannabis and cannabutter on toast to start your day on a high note. Or pot-infused honey as an ingredient in your gourmet dishes.

Although science has not proven its efficacy, there are anecdotal evidence and small-scale clinical studies that say it can reduce the signs of aging.

CBD Lessens Symptoms of Severe Skin Diseases

There are claims that you can find a marijuana dispensary offering CBD topical which can get rid of severe skin disease such as acne to decrease age-related wrinkles.

Research on the efficacy of CBD is still ongoing. Science has still to prove that CBD can treat skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, or psoriasis. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned canna-businesses from issuing false claims. To date, the only approved CBD medicine is Epidiolex used to treat children with rare epilepsy.

However, there are clinical researches that show the effectiveness of CBD in the treatment of skin diseases.

A 2019 study investigated the therapeutic effect of CBD on severe skin, chronic diseases, and/or on their outcome scars. The results, based on skin evaluations and photographic data showed that CBD topical improved the skin symptoms. And that there were no irritant or allergic reactions recorded during the treatment.

Investigators’ clinical assessment disclosed that the application of CBD without THC is safe for some skin conditions, especially those with an inflammatory background.

Hinders Signs of Aging Skin

Signs of aging can be traced to the skin. The signs of aging are age spots, sagging skin, dull skin tone, lines, and wrinkles, dry skin, thin skin, and easily bruised skin.

Reasons for skin aging are:

  • As we age our skin gets less firm and sag due to a decline in collagen levels. Collagen keeps the skin from sagging giving a youthful look.
  • The skin glands lose elasticity during aging which results in sagging of the skin
  • Oil glands produce oil that makes the skin appear radiant. Also, it traps moisture in the body for moistened and fresh-looking skin. As people age, these glands yield less oil causing the skin to lose its moisture and gets drier eventually.

Anti-aging properties of CBD

CBD is rich in antioxidants which is very effective in fighting free radicals in the body. Free radicals caused by oxidative stress spur aging and cell degeneration. This triggers the collagen tissues in the skin to break up faster. The antioxidant properties of CBD counter free radicals in the body slowing down collagen loss and help the skin maintain its natural texture and tautness.

Endocannabinoids play a major part in affecting hormonal balance by sending messages to the receptors to remind glands to produce hormones and ensure that sebaceous glands produce oil too. The application of CBD can improve the sebaceous glands in the skin to maintain their glow and luster.

CBD may accelerate the growth of brain cells to improve in aged persons. This prevents memory loss and enhances cognitive functions. A great way of preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

CBD reinforces the endocannabinoid system (ECS) by regulating the fabrication of the stress hormones called cortisol. It sees to it that the cortisol production isn’t excessive, hence CBD improves a person’s mood keeping stress levels low. The face is free from wrinkles due to anxieties keeping the face glowing.

CBD Prevents Acne Breakouts

Acne is not restricted to teenagers; adults can have it on their skin too. Skin inflammation occurs when sebum, an oily substance made by the skin, combines with dead skin cells, dirt, and other impurities that are trapped inside pores. The clogged pores become acne.

There are several factors that contribute to the presence of acne and make it worse, including hormonal imbalance, improper diet, excess sebum production, high-stress levels, and genetics. Sebum protects the skin, but too much of it causes acne.

CBD, an active ingredient in cannabis was found to help prevent the presence of acne.

Reduces the formation of sebum in sebaceous tissues

A 2014 study discovered the reaction of CBD oil on human sebaceous tissues, the cells that produce sebum. The scientists observed that CBD kept these tissues from producing too much oil.

Also, the CBD oil sets off an anti-inflammatory response in the cells and curbed disruptive cytokines from triggering. Cytokines activate skin inflammation, and decreasing them will prevent breakouts from developing.

Has antibacterial and antifungal properties

A 2016 report of the cannabis plant features its antibacterial and antifungal properties which can reduce infections from dirt and other impurities. The evidence suggests that CBD may be useful in relieving acne and improving skin conditions.

The shreds of evidence are anecdotal with no human clinical trials, patients need to wait before they can include this in their beauty regimen.

CBD Fights Free Radicals

Lately, researchers have determined that CBD hemp oil and our ECS can be the secret to mitigating the ailments caused by oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress and free radicals

Our body is continuously pummeled from oxidative stress. Oxygen in the body dissects into single atoms with unmatched electrons. Electrons come in pairs, and these unstable atoms, called free radicals, scour the body to search for other electrons to complete the pair. This action destroys cells, proteins, and DNA.

Our bodies get free radicals by joining food and water. An atom has to have a certain number of electrons to be stable. For instance, water needs two hydrogen atoms bonded with one oxygen to have water (H2O).

Free radicals won’t allow this to happen. They won’t stop until they are balanced taking electrons from other atoms creating more free radicals. Oxidative stress occurs when there are too many free radicals in the body. This imbalance can result in severe conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, depression, and neuropathic pain.

CBD minimizes oxidative stress

Antioxidants stabilize the free radicals in the body by offering electrons. Antioxidants can give electrons and remain stable without becoming free radicals.

CBD oil is rich in antioxidants that can help in the treatment of myriad oxidation-associated skin disorders like age-related, inflammatory, and autoimmune ailments.
