BANGKOK : Thailand warned it battled a major resurgence of bird flu that more outbreaks were likely to erupt across the nation, dashing hopes of declaring the kingdom free of the deadly virus.
The disease that has already gripped 10 Asian nations has also spread in the United States, with Pennsylvania the third northern US state to find a weaker strain among chicken flocks.
And in Japan, which has so far had only one case, authorities in the country's southwest were investigating a possible second outbreak of the deadly H5N1 bird flu that has killed 20 people in Vietnam and Thailand.
