Pillsbury Recall Not So Yummy Or Giggle Worthy

Typically when one hears of Pillsbury thoughts some to mind of the happy little mascot in the apron and chef hat that giggles when its tummy is poked. Now it may have to work hard to recover from an association with potential salmonella as the company behind Pillsbury, Hometown Food Company has recalled approximately 12,245 cases of the flour which was shipped to limited retailers nationwide.

The products impacted are:

1) Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour 5LB, with the case item code of 0 51500222413, UPC code 0 5150022241 6, lot code 8 292, and a best if used by date of April 19, 2020.

2) Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour 5LB, with the case item code of 0 5150022241 3, UPC code 0 5150022241 6, lot code 8 293, and a best if used by date of April 20, 2020.

Salmonella is estimated to cause about 1.2 million cases of illness a year; symptoms can include but are not limited to diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps which can last a week, illnesses are likely to be more severe among the elderly and infants, according to the CDC.

Hometown Foods said in a press release: “There have been no reports of illness associated with this recall; recall is being done out of an abundance of caution as a voluntary recall with the full knowledge of the US FDA.”

Consumers are advised to inspect any of these products that they may have and either throw out the recalled products or return them to the place of purchase. The company is offering replacement coupons for their products.
