Nutrition Experts Shows How Food Affects Hormones & Health

“Imagine experiencing years of unexplained infertility until a simple diet change sets things right. Or suffering from endometriosis, debilitating menstrual cramps, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes, or even acne without ever realizing that the solution could be as simple as the food on your plate. Incredibly, most of the people who will benefit from this book do not even realize that a hormone imbalance may be contributing to or even causing their health problem,” says  Dr. Barnard.

In his book “Your Body In Balance” Dr. Barnard explains how hormones play roles in fertility, menopause, certain cancers, balancing the thyroid, type 2 diabetes, and regulating metabolism as well as sharing stories from those who have managed to overcome their health conditions by making simple lifestyle and diet changes.

Dr. Barnard walks us through the most common and troublesome ailments which so many of us struggle with: hormone fluctuations, thyroid conditions, and mood disorders–with an eye towards research and solutions based in foods commonly available to us,” says Mayim Bialik, neuroscientist and actor.

For creating a healthy hormone balance Dr. Bardard recommends boosting the amount of fiber in the diet as one effective strategy; and goes into detail about it in the book to illustrate that higher fiber and lower fat diets can bring a woman’s hormones to a healthier level, which in turn can bring a decrease in the risk of breast cancer and help those struggling with other hormone related issues.

According to research women who alter the amount of fat and fiber in their meals under controlled conditions reduced estradiol levels by 10-25%; estrone was decreased by roughly the same, and testosterone was reduced as well.

Dr. Barnard’s book aims to provide step by step guidance to help the reader gain a better understanding of what may be at the root of many health issues, as well as some practical tips and a variety of healthy hormone balancing recipes that were developed by the cookbook author Lindsay Nixon.
