A new survey has been conducted to offer an insight into how insulin injections impact people with diabetes.

The American Association of Diabetes Educators announced the results of the study, which was conducted by Harris Interactive, that examined the relationship between patients and healthcare providers.

It was revealed that 33 per cent of respondents felt "some level of dread" in connection to the injections while 14 per cent felt the treatment had a negative impact on their lives.

More than 29 per cent admitted that injecting insulin was the most difficult aspect of having the condition although 52 per cent had not discussed these concerns with their healthcare provider.

However, 71 per cent of medical professionals said they were aware of the impact such injections could have upon a patient’s quality of life.
