Physicians worldwide will be coming together this week to discuss new ways of treating and managing chronic pain.
On June 25th TorreyPines Therpeutics will host a webinar for experts to discuss the potential to treat chronic pain, migraine and muscle spasticity by inhibiting neurotransmitter glutamate.
The company’s president and chief executive officer, Neil Kurtz, said: "There’s a growing body of scientific and clinical evidence that supports the further development of drugs that block the glutamate cascade.
"As the American Headache Society prepares to kick off its 50th Annual Scientific Meeting, we want to provide patients as well as the medical community with industry experts’ perspectives as to what is clearly a promising approach for the treatment of migraine and other conditions."
Dr Tony Yaksh, professor of Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego is scheduled to present information on targeting glutamate receptors in the central nervous system for chronic pain therapy.
