Exercise May Boost Brainpower

A small-scale preliminary study has found that exercise may boost a person’s brainpower. For the study, researchers used computer tests to measure the thinking ability of 20 men and women aged 18 to 24 before and after a 30-minute workout on a treadmill. Results showed that the brain responded roughly 35-milliseconds faster, and with a greater sense of accuracy, after the participants had exercised. The findings support other recent studies, which have found that even short bursts of activity can have beneficial effects on a person’s health and wellbeing.
