Electronic Bra Detects Tumors

Researchers have developed an electronic bra that uses electrical pulses to check for tumors. The bra works by delivering a stream of electrical currents to the breast tissue. In normal, healthy tissue the currents pass through the tissue, however the denser tissue in tumors makes it harder for the current to pass through, thus any denser areas show up on the 3-D-scan produced by the device. Researchers at De Montfort University in the UK who developed the bra believe the device will prove more accurate, cheaper, and safer than X-ray mammograms currently used to screen for breast cancer. A trial of the bra is set to begin in China; if they are successful the researchers expect the bra to be available within three years.
