CBD For Inflammation

People are increasingly beginning to use CBD as an alternative treatment for a variety of health conditions, including inflammation. Although most research has been done in animals, experts believe that the results of those studies may have therapeutic implications for humans, and human trials support their belief.

The cannabis plant is not man-made, it is natural, and it has been used since at least 4000 BC. There are a variety of strains to cannabis, including Cannabis sativa which contains over 400 different chemical compounds with the best known being THC and CBD.

The THC cannabinoid leads to the feeling of being high that most associate with marijuana, but CBD contains little to no THC and will not deliver these same effects and research suggests that CBD can help to ease inflammation among other things without any significant side effects.

As noted in Cancers, CBD may have anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsive, anxiolytic, sedative, antipsychotic, and analgesic properties. A study of CBD users published in Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research found that 62% of the people used CBD for medical symptoms including depression, anxiety, and pain.

One study found that the anti-inflammatory properties may help with general pain, inflammatory conditions, cardiovascular disease, IBS, multiple sclerosis, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.

CBD is available in a variety of forms, some prefer edibles and oral oils while others prefer topical creams and oils. What works for one person may not work for another, as such people need to try different forms and concentrations to find out what works best for them.

While CBD does not have the same side effects as other cannabinoids, there are some risks such as alongside of the medication valproate it can increase the risk of liver damage. CBD can cause drowsiness and sleepiness as well as allergic reactions in some people.

Due to the range of products available on the market, it can be overwhelming to anyone who is new to CBD. Be sure to do your research and only buy from reputable sources, read the labels for potency and COA, and check with local laws. Additionally, check with your doctor to avoid the possibility of interaction with other medications.
