Anti-aging expert recognised for scientific contribution

Anti-aging physician Arlan G Richardson has received recognition for his prolific research on oxidative stress and the aging process.

The Methodist Hospital Foundation chair in aging studies and research at the University of Texas and director of the Sam and Anne Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, Mr Richardson was given the 2008 Irving S Wright Award of Distinction by the American Federation for Aging Research.

His studies have shown that oxidative stress is a key contributing factor to aging, and explore the effect reducing oxidative stress may have in delaying the aging process.

Commenting on Richardson’s innovations in the field, scientific director of the American Federation for Aging Research George M Martin said: "He has developed at San Antonio what many now regard as the leading center for biogerontological research in the country."

Taking on board the findings, which suggest reducing molecule oxidation can slow down signs of aging, increasing numbers of people in the US take anti-aging supplements as part of their daily diet.ADNFCR-1506-ID-18638244-ADNFCR
