A drug designed to treat Alzheimer’s patients could help to enhance the memory of people without the illness. The study of airline pilots revealed that those given the drug Aricpet were better at memorizing information than those taking a placebo. Aricept works by blocking the action acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
