Forgetfulness and other memory problems among the elderly may be due to vitamin deficiencies, suggest results of a recent study. Researchers found that senior men and women higher levels of folic acid and vitamin B-12 performed better on tests of memory and thinking ability, while those with lower levels of the nutrients scored significantly lower. Thus suggesting that folic acid and vitamin-B12 deficiency could be the cause of some memory problems seen in seniors. The researchers behind they study suggest that their findings could be used to create diet plans for the elderly that are designed to help them stay in the peak of mental condition.
