Diabetes and Hypertension Lead to Early Mental Decline

Mental decline in patients with diabetes or hypertension begins in middle-age, according to researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Study leader Dr David Knopman, believes that the cognitive loss (seen in) diabetes and hypertension might make a person more susceptible to developing Alzheimer’s disease in the future. Knopman and his colleagues then went on to say that their findings demonstrate that the two conditions need to be treated from the moment of diagnosis in order to prevent premature cognitive decline.
