Software finds new drugs by browsing texts

NEW YORK, Jan. 23 (UPI) — New software can mine medical journals in minutes for data that would take scientists, poring over the pages for insights into cancer, AIDS and other diseases, countless hours to discover. The software’s developers claim their program already has helped uncover hitherto unsuspected ways for existing drugs to fight heart disease.
