Lecture on AMD announced

A lecture on the effects of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) has been scheduled for next month.

The talk will be hosted by St Anthony’s Hospital in North Cheam, UK, on May 22nd and will feature information on the treatment of disease, which can cause impaired vision.

Currently the condition can be treated using a new form of surgery, which is particularly successful in the battle against ‘dry’ AMD or the more traditional approach of a nutritional supplement which attempts to halt AMD’s progression.

The disease is currently the most common cause of loss of vision among over-65s, with the condition affecting reading, writing and identifying faces.

Meanwhile, according to the US National Eye Institute, there are a number of risk factors associated with condition, with those who smoke or are obese being more likely to develop the illness. The condition is also more prevalent in women than in men.ADNFCR-1506-ID-18564206-ADNFCR
