Women may be able to kiss goodbye to the monthly misery of PMS simply by drinking a carbohydrate-rich drink, according to researchers. Study results revealed that women who drank the fruit-flavored drink PMS Escape twice daily for the five days before their period was due experienced less negative mood swings and food cravings. Tests also revealed that the drink raises serotonin levels. However, several experts have criticised the study saying that the trial of 50 women was too small. Meanwhile, another recent study by Scandinavian researchers suggests that grass pollen may also be useful for treating PMS. Study results revealed that a pollen extract improved mood swings and reduced fluid retention, weight gain, and bloating.
